Meet Kylie Jenner’s Pal PartyNextDoor: 8 Things to Know About the Rapper

Contrary to reports that Kylie Jenner has already moved on from longtime boyfriend Tyga and is dating rapper PartyNextDoor (we know what you’re wondering and, no, that is not his real name), E! News is hearing that they’re just friends. Moreover, Kylie is understandably still processing the breakup and is looking forward to enjoying her summer, no strings attached.
But when the E! star and beauty mogul makes pals with someone, we still want to find out everything we can about him, and PND is no exception.

1. What’s in a name: The 22-year-old hip-hop artist was born Jahron Anthony Brathwaite and his mouthful of a moniker was inspired by the name of a particular production filter in the digital audio editing program formerly known as FruityLoops.2. On background: PND’s parents are both from the Caribbean, mom was born in Jamaica and his dad in Trinidad, and he hails from the Toronto suburb of Mississauga.

3. The discography: PND is signed to OVO Sound, the label co-founded by FNC (fellow notable Canadian) Drake. But first he was discovered at 17 by a manager who came across his music on MySpace, after which he packed up and moved to L.A. He was signed to Warner Bros. as a songwriter, back when he still went by Jahron B., but ultimately decided he had to be heard too. He moved to Miami and hooked up with OVO in 2013 after label co-founderOliver El-Khatib heard some of his songs. He has numerous production and songwriting credits, and his mixtapePARTYNEXTDOOR actually debuted on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart at No. 6 in 2013. His first studio album,PARTYNEXTDOOR 2, came out in 2014 and his follow-up is in the works.
4. Family history: Long before she was ever a music-video muse for Tyga, Kylie had a blink-and-oops-you-missed-it appearance with sister Kendall Jenner in the 2014 video for PND’s “Recognize,” featuring Drake.5. Don’t call him mysterious: Speaking about his reluctance to sell himself unless it’s through his music, PND told The Faderlast year, “I would never call myself mysterious. The word I use is ‘private.’ I’m not hiding from pictures. When you see me, I’ll say whassup. I just don’t wanna live in this fantasy where I act like everybody cares, and then I look like a jackass with someone filming me in the airport.”
6. He has a taste for the finer things: He may be more private than some but PND seems to be enjoying the spoils of fame, recentlycomparing diamond-encrusted watches with Kylie and posting the results on Instagram. “Diamond battles with @kyliejenner,” he wrote.
7. He’s already caught Tyga’s attention: Because there’s really no such thing as a coincidence, Tyga took to Instagram a day later to post a pic of his own bling-laden hand, captioning the shot, “Diamond battles.”
8. This isn’t his first time tempting headlines: While hanging out with Kylie indicates that he’s not utterly consumed with maintaining a low profile, PND used to date singer Kehlani (he mused about wrecking that relationship on his song Things & Such (Kehlani’s Freestyle)”) and it was his March Instagram post of them in bed together that launched rumors that Kehlani was back with her ex hot on the heels of dating NBA star Kyrie Irving.
